SHOW ME THE LIGHT TO FAME.

What is fame? Probably a question that most of the current generation pull of their hair trying to answer. However easy it might look or seem from the many popular superstars we have globally but one lady tends to disagree by the notion that is fame.
Based in Stockholm, Sweden with African origin and Tanzania to be specific, meet Lady Nuru Magram popularly known as NURU THE LIGHT in the music circles. She has seen it all or say most of the fame that any star can have. Nuru is a musician, an artist a dancer and an entrepreneur with investments back home in Dar es Salaam while she does consulting in Sweden where she is based.
As an advice to the upcoming artists and those on their way to stardom, Nuru puts it clear; “Fame is weighty, fame is a responsibility that not just anybody can handle, I meet several people who insist that dear Nuru help me become famous, I am a musician and I know I am good, I want to try fashion too like you or others also want to be professional dancers etc.
“My question to all of them is; you want to do music because it is your talent and calling or you want to do it for fame?”

“Do you even understand what fame is?” I’ve been famous since I was 16 till up to date, Fame is not what I wanted but it just came about from the work I do and my achievements in the society”.
I want you to ask yourself “What is fame to you? Is it something you can handle?
Fame comes both ways in the best ways and the worst ways. Fame comes with challenges that maybe you would not have undergone if you were not famous.
Fame is like an addictive drug that when you just taste and it gets into your system, it both runs to your head and overwhelms you. Making you lose focus and direction in life leaving all the people depending on you at crossroads and confused. On the other hand if you use your fame in a wise way and keep your integrity, you can change the society in ways that not even the president can do.

It is also not a must you be famous to become a role model and bring change. We should live every day knowing that in our environment there are people looking up to us as their inspiration and ambassadors. These people want to follow your footsteps and therefore we have to live responsibly.
Ladies specifically must learn to invest and be self-reliant and independent. I am personally an entrepreneur and an investor back home in Tanzania. I wake up daily knowing I have a responsibility to fulfil and above all I am a role model to many who would one day want to be like me.
I preach love and peace in my music. I don’t like disrespect; I am humble and down to earth. I am fun loving and love fashion. Everything about me is fashionable in my own way.
I keep praying that the youth in my home country back in Africa can wake up, say no to poverty and learn to hustle their own way out of desperacy without expecting help from politicians and other popular people who take advantage of their weakness to exploit them.

I AM SAD BUT EVERYTHING IS FINE.

Most of the times we get hard pressed and wish we could scream,
You look at us and realize there's something amiss within our dream,
When you try so hard to express your loving hand as sweet as cream,
We know it, we care and we give our best response to cool your steam,
You are my friend and I am sad but everything is fine!

My boyfriend isn't good as he was he changed and values me less,
He stopped being sweet and all he does is treat me with care less,
Our plans he trashed and with each passing day he seems affectionless,
I cry and try, I am a fool in love I will hold and stay till he hurts me less,
You are just a neighbor I am sad but everything is fine!

Why do bad things happen to good people is the question I always ask,
Remember my sweet love that girl I told you about she had only but a mask,
They stripped it off and all underneath was spread in the air to bask,
She lied loud, it wasn't all she showed when the truth brought her to task,
You are not my love I am sad but everything is fine!

ONE PLUS ONE IS NEVER ELEVEN.

Sometimes the places you seek your peace ends up to be the most chaotic,
At times the shelter you so much toil to build turn out to be the worst and hectic,
Mostly the pals you so try to keep close seems to be the most mono centric,
When it falls spread the tents and wrap your cold sing along with the loudest lyrics.
Then you will realize that life isn't straight and one plus one is never eleven.

Waking up becomes a relieve so stressed through the day but when darkness falls,
You get the fear so real. You are back to square one a day gone without any calls,
Thought your comfort rose from the closest bars, yet it isn't any close within your walls,
When things don't go as you anticipated them, face it and accept it's God who controls,
Then you will learn to go down and look up since one plus one is never eleven.

Happiness comes to those who wait, but No its different it comes only when invited,
You are responsible for your joy and who you choose becomes your most anointed,
We walk in the street with a smile and grin hand in hand pretending to be connected,
When away from the public and the four walls reveal the emptiness we are subjected,
Then you will know nothing lasts forever it's vain and one plus one is never eleven.

THE TUSKY TASK.

"Imagine I can't even travel to visit my family, wife and children!" *Randal says in a rather sad and regretful gesture. He is a victim of what has become the worst of African scandals that is poaching and illegal trade in Ivory.
It was a normal day like any other at his desk when he received a Bill of lading and a packing list he thought was a container full of legal goods. The only intresting thing was how fast the responsible clearing agent wanted the consigned shipped.
As a shipping line officer, Mr Randal did as expected and obviously gave a green light to a consignment that would later land him in trouble. It was to be cleared soonest because the owner was running late and the destination country had no regulations to accept it later than that day.
"The next morning I saw two plain clothes police officers who identified themselves to our staff and asked who Randal was, they pointed to my desk unaware of the looming case that had brought the visitors my way." he adds.
I was hurriedly ordered by the officers to accompany them to the station for a statement on a consignment that had been confiscated by the revenue officials. I was shocked to realize that the documents I had cleared for shipment the previous day was actually Ivory. I was in trouble.
The rest of the lot responsible had earlier been arrested and I was the last to be brought in. It is the most traumatizing thing i have ever encountered in my career as a shipping-line officer. We were held in a tight security cell and got moved into different one later after a few hours. I think we moved into four different remand prisons in a period of two days only. The police were doing their work because this was a high sensitive matter and we were enemies of the state.

I got charged in the law courts and since the investigations were ongoing I managed to secure a bond release which took almost everything out of my account, my parents, my relatives who had to chip in to assist me settle a bill I sincerely knew nothing about.
It hurts me to date because I am still under court orders not to travel anywhere, I can't even visit my family. The worst part of this whole situation is that none amongst the arrested had any positive gains attached, all were victims of crooks sweet talked into literally selling their own heritage by dubious means. Only to expect payment later that was never to come since it landed all in jail.

I now hate everything about poaching and the killings of our wildlife. I want to start a movement against the illegal hunting and killings of elephants for their ivory.I recently saw a live coverage of an elephant drugged and its tusks chopped off when it is still alive. It was sad watching the animal struggle half dead to get up after the molestation.
Randal is still fighting his court case as he prays and hopes that something can eventually be done to stop poaching. He says one elephant dies every 15 minutes and uses the painful slogan "ONE EVERY 15 MINUTES I VORY".
"It has not just caused my family pain and loss of unwarranted money handling bills and legal fees but also caused our government a major loss in terms of wildlife which is a foreign currency earner through tourism.

LOOK BACK, PRESS HARD & MOVE ON!!

However much we believe one should never look back. It sometimes takes looking back to get the inspiration you need to keep going. If you came this far, If you crossed all those bridges, If you fought that war and won, If you escaped that and tackled that then you can surely handle this. it's through the night that you meet the day. However cold with just a rising sun to inspire you but with the faith that as it shone yesterday so today must look brighter.

Look back and count your wins, look back and appreciate where you forded through.
Look back then look up. Thank God and look forward to many more wins. Move on because you can do it.
However tough it seems today, you did it yesterday, so tomorrow is your win.
