FRED IS GONE.

Every couples' pride lies in the birth of a bouncing baby and enough wealth to make their baby comfortable. Angelina is such a lucky mother who was blessed with a total of ten children and handsome wealth from her husband made her one in a million. She raised her family happily always making sure her children got the best of their needs. Food wasn't a problem and leisure came with pleasure too. Let's just say she had a happy family. One outstanding trait was her undying love for her first born son Fred, whom she made sure got pocket money gifts and other favors that a young man could get from a loving mum.
Fred was old enough to get a job and raise his own family but Angelina his mum always took him as her baby. With or without a job Fred was comfortable. When the dad was home, Fred enjoyed the luxury of taking the car and making rides to friends and sweethearts sometimes returning back home drunk and messed. He made the best of his youth and whenever the dad got him a job from similar wealthy friends, he just couldn't hang on. This made his father hate his bad character, were it not for Angelina then Fred would be chased away from home.
Which parent chases their loved one from home? Not one. They had to get a solution to Fred's problem. "What if he got married, then maybe that would keep him in check”, Angelina told her husband.
Responsibility keeps a man under control. Fred must marry.
At least that can help him change maybe, so the parents agreed to share their decision with their first born son. He welcomed the idea and as usual it wasn't going to be easy for his mother Angelina who would continue taking care of him and his newly wed wife. Fred married Fridah and they began a blissful life together getting blessed with one son called Peter. So with their new lifestyle, Fred had to adjust to being a father and a husband. He had to toil and hustle to put things on the table for his young family too. Angelina's help could only be so little if not enough for her son and his family.
Fred tried all he could in vain, he had been drowned in a flossy lifestyle and spoiled beyond repair by his parents wealth. He was used to getting everything easy and he wanted it to stay that way.
He would move into his parents’ house and take any valuables just to go sell them for easy cash. He knew all the black markets and selling a used pan or stove wasn't a problem to him.
One day Angelina his mother knew giving him cash wasn't the solution so instead she gave Kenya shillings fifty thousand to his wife. She was smart and hardworking and would at least start a small business with it.
The next morning Angelina woke up to wails from Fred's small hut. It was Fridah screaming and wailing… "Fred is gone and the cash is gone".
A man spoiled by wealth can never get his hustling senses back.
Fred must be found and he has to explain. While still discussing about Fred, his mother Angelina and Fridah noticed a note that was lying on her floor " I WILL RETURN SHORTLY" before they dropped it down he was at the gate returning with a broad smile on his face. He said “hi” to his mum and quickly got inside his hut before beckoning his wife Fridah to get in too.
"We are going to Mombasa on holiday to enjoy" he said to Fridah.
Angelina looked at them for a second not believing her ears. What do you do to your first born son who decides to take your kindness for weakness? Nothing. The fifty thousand shilling she had given to Fridah for investment was being directed elsewhere unproductive. A hustler going to Mombasa on holidays was like an abuse to her efforts. She loved Fred so much she didn't know what to do to make him live responsibly.
A week later Fred returned broke and in need as usual. He was sorry, he wanted to change, He was wrong, He had to turn things round quickly and save his marriage because Fridah was threatening to leave.
Fred went to church and openly accepted Christ as his savior, he emptied his pockets of the cigarettes, he rolled on the ground and asked God for forgiveness. He sincerely wanted to change. Angelina knew his son had been born again and this was light to her. She always waited for this.
One day Fridah carried their only son and left a note for her dear husband "YOU ARE NOT THE MAN I MARRIED...YOU CHANGED SINCE YOU GOT SAVED. YOU ARE BORING. I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE"
Exactly one year later after he got saved Fred's body was found hanging with a rope that he had tied on his neck before kicking the stool he climbed. He was gone. Hanging, dangling Dead!
The news spread so fast in the village and everyone was saying “FRED IS GONE”.
